Kelsie Mattox is the 2023 Wicomico Democratic Club’s Member of the Year. Mattox moved to Houston last year, but her legacy as a valued member of the club endures.

She served as the club sergeant-at-arms for several years, welcoming members and guests, then opening meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance, ensuring a smooth beginning. She was indispensable on the Crab Feast Committee, the club’s major fundraiser.

“What made her special, her greatest contributions,” said Gains Hawkins, the club president, “were her incisive observations during meetings and as a board member. She’s knowledgeable, honest and forthright.”

Mattox’s professional training is as a nurse, eventually a head nurse.

Mattox hopes to attend the club’s Crab Feast in August.
