DOVER — Two Baltimore residents were arrested on drug and firearm charges following a Friday traffic stop, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

The incident occurred at 10:29 p.m. in the area of South Bradford and Division streets. Sgt. Hoffman said officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle occupied by Miguel Dorsey, 22, and Marquis Pack, 23.

A vehicle check located a backpack containing 45 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia commonly used for the sale of marijuana, police said. Another bag was found to contain a handgun and ammunition, along with two additional packages of marijuana containing 136 grams and 122 grams and two bags containing 4 grams of marijuana each, authorities added.

Mr. Pack attempted to flee on foot as officers walked him to a patrol vehicle but was quickly taken into custody, Sgt. Hoffman said.

Mr. Dorsey was searched after being taken into custody and found to be in possession of brass knuckles and a switchblade, police said.

The firearm was later determined to be stolen out of North Carolina.

Charges against Mr. Dorsey include possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Dorsey was released after posting a $1,700 secured bond.

Mr. Pack was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm and resisting arrest (two counts). He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $14,000 cash bond.
