LEWES — Two Maryland men were arrested and charged with felony theft from a business Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.

At about 8:14 p.m., Blue Heron Construction contacted DSP after receiving information about its Ditch Witch SK800 machine being removed from the parking lot of the clubhouse in Middle Creek Preserve, Angola Beach, authorities said. It was found in the Lewes BP gas station lot at 17580 Coastal Highway, Lewes.

Troopers arrived to the BP and found a white 2021 Dodge Ram pickup towing a trailer with the Ditch Witch, police said.

Police contacted the driver of the Dodge, Roy H. Hanna of Elkton, and his passenger, George W. Whiteman of North East. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 7.

Mr. Hanna and Mr. Whiteman were each charged with theft of $1,500 or greater, second-degree conspiracy and third-degree criminal trespass. They were arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, and released on $5,500 unsecured bonds.
