DOVER — A 24-year-old Dover man was charged with first-degree attempted murder in connection with a shooting Wednesday, authorities said.

Shakur Peck was arrested following an investigation into the incident at Dover Country Club apartments, during which a man suffered gunshot wounds to his face, arm and torso, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said. The shooting on Fairway Lakes Drive was reported at 6:32 a.m., police said.

Mr. Peck was taken into custody while staying at the Dover Inn at 428 N. Dupont Highway.

According to police, Tanesha Milbourne, 38, of Dover, was also in the hotel room and was arrested for tampering with evidence after a loaded handgun was found in the tank of the room’s toilet.

The wounded man was in serious but stable condition, Sgt. Hoffman said Tuesday.

In addition to the attempted-murder count, Mr. Peck was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited (two counts), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (two counts), tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree conspiracy. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $264,200 cash bond.

Ms. Milbourne was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, New Castle, on a $64,200 cash bond.
