LEWES —Customers of Lewes Public Works are able to resume normal use of their water, but the beach areas may still see some low pressure, the utility released Aug. 21.
A drop in pressure reported on Aug. 20 allowed the possibility of contamination by disease-carrying microorganisms, the board said in a release. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches, it said.
Blaming a communication error for the pressure disruption, the board said the underlying issue has been fixed, and water pressure will slowly return.
