Levy Court names Kent County’s new public safety director

Posted

DOVER — Kent County Levy Court commissioners announced Friday that Kevin Sipple will become the county’s new public safety director.

Effective Saturday, Mr. Sipple will replace Colin Faulkner, who is retiring after 23 years, a news release said.

Mr. Sipple’s background includes 39 years in the fire/emergency medical services sector, including 36 years working for the Kent County Department of Public Safety and 15 years as the fire chief for the Felton Fire Co. and for the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Co.

Levy Court Commissioner Robert Scott said, “Because Kevin has spent his entire career in the Kent County Department of Public Safety and given his clear understanding and knowledge as a first responder, he will be able to lead the Department and progress Kent County forward towards growth and change.”

Previously, Mr. Sipple was the assistant director for the department’s Emergency Communications Division, responsible for planning and supervising the Emergency Communications Center, as well as installing and maintaining the division’s equipment.

After receiving formal training from Delaware Technical Community College, Mr. Sipple earned numerous certifications in emergency medical and fire instruction and has been active in many statewide committees. In 2001, he was Kent County’s Employee of the Year.
