League of Women Voters Meeting

The League of Women Voters of Sussex County will present Common Financial Crimes Targeting Delaware Residents and How to Combat Them from 5:30-8:30 p.m. May 15 at Grotto’s Pizza in Seaford.

The guest speaker will be Detective Michael Venero of the State Troop 4 Financial Crimes Unit.

As part of the League, Libations & Learning series, the event is open to anyone wanting to learn how to avoid the growing number of scams and fraud.

The program will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m., following dinner with individual orders and separate checks.

Detective Venero is a senior member of the Delaware State Police’s Conflict Management Team and a military veteran with eight years of service in the United States Navy as an Intelligence Officer. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and is currently working on his master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering through the University of Advancing Technology. His specialties include crypto and cyber-based investigations.
