Laurel paraprofessional arrested for allegedly sending explicit photos to student

LAUREL — A 21-year-old paraprofessional at Laurel High School, was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending explicit photographs to a student.

Delaware State Police said the Criminal Investigations Unit out of Troop 4 in Georgetown received a report from Laurel High School on Oct. 16 that said Emma Brewington allegedly sent explicit photos to a 16-year-old student.

Through a monthlong investigation, detectives discovered that Ms. Brewington and the student had been communicating electronically since September.

Police said the messages and photographs continued until the student’s parent discovered the relationship and reported it to the school.

During the investigation, detectives allegedly found explicit photos sent by Ms. Brewington on the student’s phone.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Ms. Brewington on Tuesday. She turned herself in to Troop 4 on Thursday.

Ms. Brewington was charged with obscenity material provided to a person under the age of 18 (felony). She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 4 and released on her own recognizance.
