DOVER — Kent County Levy Court passed a Green Light for Veterans resolution at its Oct. 31 meeting that designated a Green Light for Veterans through Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

The resolution states, "... a time to salute and honor the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform transitioning from active service; and that in observance of Operation Green Light encourages citizens in patriotic tradition to recognize the importance of honoring all those who made immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom by displaying green lights in a window of their place of business or residence from November 6th through the 12th, 2023."

The resolution, though presented to three local veterans, tributed veterans from all branches of service and conflicts.

Paul Davis, president of the State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America, expressed his gratitude for the unexpected honor on behalf of all county veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserve forces, and active-duty military members.

Mr. Davis thanked Levy Court for providing space on the north side of the county administration building in 2017 for Kent County VVA Chapter 850 to build the County Veterans Memorial Park that honors Kent Countians lost in Korea, Vietnam, and Middle East Conflicts.
