The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s help as it continues to investigate the July 5 mass shooting on Chippewa Boulevard in Salisbury.

The shooting occurred at a block party; a 14-year-old boy was killed and seven others were injured.

Officials said that despite numerous leads and information already obtained during the investigation, detectives believe that the public may still have additional information to assist with the investigation.

Crime Solvers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction for this crime.

Immediately following the shooting, officials said they were searching for multiple shooters.

Wicomico deputies and Maryland State Police were called to the area of Chippewa Boulevard and Kiowa Avenue off Business Route 50, just after midnight July 5.

According to troopers, a huge crowd had gathered for a July Fourth celebration, which prompted a radio call for more officers. When people in the crowd began beating on the police vehicles, officers left the scene and gunfire erupted.

The Sheriff's Office, Salisbury Police Department and Delmar Police immediately responded.

About an hour after the initial incident, another shooting was reported, which the Sheriff's Office investigators believe to be connected.

The victim was identified as Xavier Cordei Maddox, 14, of Salisbury, who died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting victims were taken to the Salisbury medical center by EMS vehicles and in private cars.
