MILLSBORO — Harbor Freight, offering “quality tools” and the “lowest prices,” will be opening soon at 28632 Dupont Blvd.

A company press release said the official first day of business will be announced closer to its opening.

The hardware store will fill the previous Save-a-Lot grocery store, which closed in November 2022.

Construction has begun, employing companies from the Millsboro area, the release noted.

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Millsboro for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” said Trey Feiler, senior vice president of real estate and construction for Harbor Freight. “In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Millsboro area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”

The store is expected to bring between 25 and 30 jobs, like sales and logistics supervisors, senior associates, sales associates and seasonal opportunities.

Nationwide, Harbor Freight employs over 28,000 associates at more than 1,400 locations, including sites in Dover, Milford, Seaford and Newark.

The business was recently certified as a “Great Place to Work” and as one of Fortune’s best places to work in retail, the release stated. It has also been recognized three years in a row by Forbes, as one of the 20 best large companies to work for in retail and one of the nation’s best employers for veterans.

Forbes also recognized Harbor Freight as one of the 20 best large companies in retail for women to work. Plus, it is one of the best large companies and top employers in terms of diversity and inclusion, according to DiversityJobs.
