DOVER — Officers from the Dover Police Department responded to Saulsbury Road and Forrest Avenue, after receiving several calls about shots fired at around 2:42 Monday afternoon.

Detectives had cleared the scene by 4:15 p.m., and no victims of the reported gunfire were located, police said.

Nearby William Henry Middle School was placed into a secure lockdown, with students and staff safely in the building near the end of the school day. The facility’s administration said dismissal was delayed until the all-clear was given.

Initial reports indicated that two vehicles were involved and fled east, authorities said. However, officers contacted witnesses and canvassed the area, and there were no victims or suspects identified.
