Georgetown Microtel honored for 6th time in a row

GEORGETOWN — The count now stands at a half dozen.

The Georgetown Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham on DuPont Boulevard recently received word it has been awarded “Best of Microtels Best” for a sixth consecutive year.

The most recent honor is for 2020, continuing the honor roll streak that began in 2015. Of course, 2020 presented abnormal challenges as the bulk of the year unfolded during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Georgetown Microtel General Manager Mary Susan Jones, who has been in the hotel hospitality industry for about 23 years, credits her entire staff as the reason the Georgetown Microtel continuously claims these honors. Stacy Sockriter heads up housekeeping crew, she noted.

“Stacy is excellent. All the girls are excellent,” said Ms. Jones.

One of more than 340 Microtels around the world, Georgetown’s Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham opened Dec. 14, 2014. The four-story hotel opened with 78 rooms, an outdoor pool, an indoor fitness facility and a conference room. It also features an on-site Micro Mart, a convenient in-house vending “store” for snacks, sodas and beverages.

Guests can get a morning jumpstart with a full complimentary continental breakfast.

In 2016, the Georgetown Microtel also claimed Wyndham’s prestigious overall Hotel of the Year for the economy brand category. It was chosen from a pool of 4,500 Wyndham properties worldwide.

One of most prestigious awards for the brand is the Best of the Best, Ms. Jones said. “That is actually a benchmark you have to hit before you get Hotel of the Year,” Ms. Jones said.
