Georgetown men arrested for assault

GEORGETOWN — Two Georgetown men were charged with assault after a man was allegedly attacked with rocks and glass bottles Wednesday, Georgetown Police spokesman Det. Joey Melvin said.

According to Det. Melvin, officers were called to the area of Douglas Street and the railroad tracks for an assault complaint. Police found that a man had sustained head injuries. The man told police he had been attacked by two men.

The injured man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While still on scene, officers identified a male suspect and took him into custody without incident, police said. Another male suspect fled from officers but was later apprehended.

During the investigation, officers were contacted regarding a found juvenile. Officers learned that the child was the 9-year-old daughter of one of the suspects and was found by residents unsupervised and looking for her father.

Deivin Gonzalez Ramirez, 28, and Jesus Vagues, 29, were both charged with second-degree assault, conspiracy, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Mr. Gonzalez Ramirez was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Mr. Gonzalez Ramirez was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $14,100 cash bail, and Mr. Vagues was incarcerated in lieu of a $6,600 secured bail.
