MILLSBORO — A 26-year-old Georgetown man died in a single-car crash Sunday, Delaware State Police said.

The man was driving on Harmons Hill Road, east of Hollyville Road, at approximately 1:33 a.m., when he lost control of a Ford Mustang approaching a slight left curve, spokesman Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell said. The vehicle left the road and struck a metal utility pole before coming to rest.

The driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, police said. Identification is pending notification of kin.

A male front-seat passenger was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, Cpl. Hatchell said.

Harmons Hill Road was closed for approximately three hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and asks witnesses to contact Sgt. J. Burns at 302-703-3269, send a message via the state police Facebook page or call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
