REHOBOTH BEACH — Jacob Capozio, a 36-year-old from Georgetown, was arrested by Delaware State Police for theft and other charges related to multiple incidents in the Rehoboth Beach area this summer, said DSP spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper.

Starting in mid-July, state police began investigating multiple thefts and mischief to vending machines in the Seaside and Bayside Outlets.

Five Coca-Cola vending machines, seven other vending machines and five children’s rides were affected, leading to around $25,000 worth of damage. During the investigation, troopers identified Mr. Capozio as a suspect, Cpl. Pepper said.

On Aug. 27, Mr. Capozio was arrested by state troopers on an active warrant for theft of a motor vehicle. He also was charged with one count of criminal mischief for $5,000 or more in damaged property (a felony), four counts of criminal mischief for $1,000 but less than $5,000 in damaged property and three counts of theft under $1,500. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

On Saturday, troopers responded to an altercation involving Mr. Capozio at the Lowe’s store in Lewes. Troopers located him at the Lewes Park & Ride nearby, and he was found to have $1,000 in stolen power tools from Lowe’s, Cpl. Pepper said.

The suspect was again taken into custody and charged with six counts of theft under $1,500, three counts of criminal mischief for $1,000 but less than $5,000 in damaged property, two counts of third-degree criminal trespass and shoplifting under $1,500.
He was released on $10,100 unsecured bond.
