Ex-Bethany Beach police chief pleads guilty to DUI

Posted

BETHANY BEACH — Former Bethany Beach police chief Michael Redmon has pleaded guilty to DUI and accepted the first offenders program, the Delaware Department of Justice said Thursday.

Mr. Redmon was issued a ticket for DUI following a traffic stop on May 30, 2023, Delaware State Police said at the time. The stop was conducted at approximately 12:19 a.m. on Lighthouse Road near Old Mill Bridge Road in Selbyville, according to authorities.

The DOJ said Mr. Redmon will complete a period of probation and DUI course, and, if he does so successfully, be discharged. It counts as a DUI conviction for the purposes of any future DUI, authorities said.

Mr. Redmon was placed on administrative leave following the incident and the town announced in January that he had been terminated due to an unrelated matter.
