Drug charges result from check on vehicle in Dover

DOVER — A 47-year-old Dover man was charged with drug offenses after officers checked a vehicle early Sunday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Robert Taylor was found in a car with its hazard lights on in the area of White Oak Road and Stevenson Drive. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana upon contacting Mr. Taylor, Sgt. Hoffman said.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers located 6.5 grams of cocaine and 13 bags of heroin during a search of his person, police said.

Mr. Taylor was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of crack cocaine and a motor vehicle violation. He was released on an own-recognizance bond.
