DiGirolamo named superintendent for Seaford School District

SEAFORD — The Seaford School District announced the appointment Tuesday of Dr. Sharon DiGirolamo as its next superintendent.

The district’s assistant superintendent since 2020, she has been in public education for more than 25 years, a press release said. She has also served as Seaford’s director of special education since 2015.

She fills the vacancy created in early August, when then-Superintendent Dr. Corey Miklus was named to the same position for the Caesar Rodney School District.

“I’m delighted to continue on my path with the Seaford School District as the new superintendent. I will lead, learn, collaborate, and serve to the best of my ability,” Dr. DiGirolamo said in the release.

Seaford’s board of education approved the appointment Monday at its monthly meeting. She will assume the reins next Monday.

The release added that Dr. DiGirolamo’s familiarity with staff, students, families and local residents will make for a seamless transition.

The new superintendent holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and French, a Master of Education in learning disabilities, a Doctorate of Education in administration and policy, and graduate certificates in autism/pervasive development disorders and school finance.

In addition, she is a past president and past vice president of the Delaware Association of Special Education Professionals and was also named its Administrator of the Year in 2021.
