DOVER — Phil McGinnis announced his candidacy Thursday for the Delaware House of Representatives. He will run as a Democrat for the 32nd District in Dover.

His father, Jim McGinnis, once served as the 32nd District representative and later served as Delaware’s lieutenant governor.

“I am hopeful to continue the legacy he created and that has been honorably followed by his successors, including (current Rep.) Andria Bennett,” Mr. McGinnis said. “I know what it means to serve this community, not only from the years spent learning from my father about what it means to be an elected official, but also as a longtime advocate, volunteer, local businessperson and employer.

“My varied experiences have given me unique insight into the current issues facing Delawareans and the Dover community.”

Mr. McGinnis is a Dover native and said he is looking forward to beginning his campaign.

“As I begin my campaign and start knocking on doors in the many neighborhoods in the 32nd District, I genuinely look forward to meeting more of my neighbors, seeing familiar faces and learning about the issues that concern you,” he said. “I have goals for our district, but I also know our residents have goals as well.

“Working together, we will strengthen our community and help preserve the way of life that makes Dover a great place to live, work and raise your family.”
