Dover woman shot while walking her dog

DOVER - A 47-year-old Dover woman was shot while walking her dog Wednesday, authorities said.

Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said investigation began when the woman arrived at Bayheath Kent Campus with a gunshot wound to her lower body.

Investigation determined that the woman was walking her dog on Schoolhouse Lane when unknown persons began arguing in the area. She then heard several gun shots and was struck, police said.

Police said the incident occurred at 10:29 p.m.

The woman was transported to Bayhealth by a private vehicle for treatment. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said

There are no leads or suspect description, Cpl. Schmid said.

Investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information to call 302-736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
