Dover woman arrested for manslaughter after incident on Walker Road

DOVER – Thalia Perez, a 21-year-old woman from Dover, was arrested by Dover police on manslaughter and related charges after she allegedly struck a woman with her vehicle at Liberty Court Apartments on Dec. 22.

Dover police said they received a call about the incident at around 11 p.m. Officers responded to 1289 Walker Road and located the victim, a 22-year-old woman from Dover, and discovered she had sustained severe injuries from being hit by a vehicle.

Officers rendered aid before she was taken to Bayhealth Hospital’s Kent Campus, where she later died. The victim’s name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

Ms. Perez remained at the site when officers arrived, and it was determined that she was the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim and that she was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Ms. Perez was taken into custody without incident and was charged with manslaughter, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

She was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle on $100,100 secured bail.
