Dover shooting incident brings murder charge

DOVER — A 23-year-old Dover man was arrested and charged with murder following a shooting incident Sunday, authorities said.

Police said officers were called to the 100 block of West Loockerman Street at 1:26 a.m. where two persons had been shot. Officers responded and located Syncere Friends, 25, of Dover, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest, and a 30-year-old Magnolia woman, who had sustained a gunshot wound to her lower body.

Both were transported to Bayheath Kent Campus in Dover for treatment. Mr. Friends died as a result of his injuries while at the hospital, police said.

The investigation lead detectives to identify Sadique Ingram as the person responsible for the shooting, police said. Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest and he was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Milford later in the morning, according to authorities.

Mr. Ingram was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (two counts). He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,000,000 cash bail,
