Dover police investigating strong-arm robbery at Wawa

DOVER — The Dover Police Department is investigating a strong-arm robbery of the Forrest Avenue Wawa on Saturday.

Video surveillance of the incident shows a white male suspect arriving in a silver Chevrolet Silverado around 6:15 a.m. and entering the store with a light-green bag, said Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman.

The suspect proceeded to the register area, where he placed approximately 20 breakfast sandwiches into the bag and walked toward the exit, police said.

A male employee stood in the doorway in an attempt to prevent the suspect from leaving. He then rushed the employee, knocking him to the ground while leaving the store, Sgt. Hoffman said.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Dover police at 736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
