Dover man arrested, charged with weapon offense

DOVER - Othello Creekmur, 26, of Dover, was arrested on a weapon offense following a traffic stop Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said the investigation began when a patrol officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Independence Boulevard at approximately 3:50 p.m. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver, Mr. Creekmur.

Police said the officer detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle and a search was conducted at which time the officer located a 9mm Glock handgun concealed inside of a compartment in the vehicle. Mr. Creekmur was arrested without incident.

Mr. Creekmur was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was released on an own recognizance.
