Dover burglary investigation brings arrest

DOVER — Nafis Shakir, 28, of Dover, was arrested following a burglary investigation that began in August 2022, according to police.

Dover police identified Mr. Shakir as a suspect in a burglary at Walgreens, 1001 Forrest Ave., on Aug. 6, during which several cartons of cigarettes were stolen.

He was taken into custody in the 100 block of Spruance Road on Tuesday at 6:09 p.m., Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

Mr. Shakir was charged with third-degree burglary, theft over $1,500, tampering with physical evidence and criminal mischief. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $4,500 secured bail.
