Robbery/Assault

On Jan. 12, at approximately 2 p.m., a Cambridge Police Department School Resource Officer took a report of a theft from a student. It was reported to the officer that on Jan. 11, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Race Street, the victim was approached by three juveniles.

The victim reported that they had their cell phone taken off their person from the juveniles, and that the juveniles coerced the victim to follow them in attempt to get the phone access ID. The victim reported that when they arrived around Washington Street, the victim was struck multiple times by one of the juveniles.

The victim reported that the other two juveniles then kept pushing the victim to make the victim continue to the area of Meadow Street Park. While at that location, the victim was not allowed to leave, was assaulted more and had more property taken.

The victim reported being pushed to the ground and having shoes taken. At that time, a police car was driving by and the suspects fled the area. The victim was able to identify the subjects involved.

On Jan. 13, the SRO located the three juveniles involved. All three were arrested and transported to CPD for processing. They were:

  • 13-year-old female of Cambridge
  • 11-year-old male of Cambridge
  • 13-year-old female of Cambridge

All three juveniles have been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Assault second degree
  • Theft $100 to under $1,500

CPD contacted DJS in reference to detention placement for the juveniles charged. DJS did not authorize detention of the juveniles and advised to release them to their guardians. The juveniles were later released to their guardians.

Malicious Destruction

On Jan. 13, at approximately 9:33 a.m., CPD officers contacted a 22-year-old Cambridge woman in the 700 block of Race Street. She was served a criminal summons and was released on her signature. Tyresha Shawnece Hewitt was charged with malicious destruction of property.

Charges stem from an incident that occurred on Nov. 2, 2022, at approximately 7:27 a.m. in the 600 block of Academy Street. CPD officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred. Contact was made with the victim, who stated at approximately 7 a.m. they were awakened by a woman standing in the bedroom. The complainant attempted to detain the subject prior to the police’s arrival, but the subject grabbed a bicycle tire pump, broke a window, and left the area. Officers canvassed the area and were not able to locate the subject.

A phone was left at the residence that had a picture of the subject. Through investigation, the subject was identified as Hewitt. Hewitt was later located and admitted to breaking the window, police said, but also stated that she was a guest at the residence and an altercation had occurred with the complainant. CPD applied for charges with the court commissioner, who issued a criminal summons.

Warrant service/robbery

On Jan. 16, at approximately 2 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers located a 16-year-old juvenile in the 900 block of Race Street. The juvenile had an active arrest warrant.

The juvenile was arrested and transported to CPD for processing. Due to the nature of the charges, the juvenile was charged as an adult. The juvenile had their initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond. The juvenile was charged with:

  • Assault first degree
  • Con-assault first degree
  • Armed robbery
  • Con-armed robbery
  • Firearm use / fel-violent crime
  • Con-firearm use / fel-violent crime
  • Robbery
  • Con-robbery
  • Assault second degree
  • Con-assault second degree
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Con-reckless endangerment
  • Possession of firearm minor
  • Con-possession of firearm minor
  • Handgun on person
  • Con-handgun on person
  • Theft less than $100
  • Con-theft less than $100

Charges stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 12, at approximately 4:38 p.m. CPD officers responded to the 600 block of High Street for a reported armed robbery that just occurred. Officers contacted the victim who stated that he was robbed around the graveyard by Bethel Street and Schoolhouse Lane.

The victim told police he had been walking home from the store when he was approached by three subjects on foot who were all dressed in black clothing with ski masks on. The victim described two of the suspects being Caucasian and the third subject being African American.

The victim stated that the subjects demanded his money, that one subject pulled up his shirt where a handgun was observed.

The suspects then went through the victim’s property, stealing the items that he had just purchased. The victim then ran from the area.

On Jan. 12, one 15-year-old male juvenile was located and arrested and charged as a juvenile. The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with the same charges as posted in a previous CPD press release.

Failure to appear

On Jan. 16, at approximately 8:14 a.m., CPD officers traveled to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center to pick up Robert Alexander Grandos III, 39 years old of Cambridge, for an active Circuit Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court. Grandos was transported back to CPD and turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.

Stalking

On Jan. 16, at approximately 8:45 a.m., CPD officers contacted Theresa Randall, 34 years old of Cambridge, in the 400 block of Skinners Court. Randall had a criminal summons served on her and she was released on her signature. She was charged with stalking.

Charges stem from multiple incidents from Nov. 29-Dec. 20, 2022, which the complainant reported that Randall had been harassing them constantly on social media platforms, sending threatening messages to cause harm, calling from unknown numbers, and having other subjects approach the victim stating that Randall was going to cause damage to their vehicle. The victim applied for charges and the court commissioner issued a criminal summons.

Assault

On Jan. 16, at approximately 1:15 p.m., CPD officers responded to the 400 block of Race Street for a disturbance. Their investigation led to the arrest of a 47-year-old East New Market man.

While on location, officers contacted the complainant who claimed he had been assaulted by another individual who was reported to be at the rear of the building. It was reported that the victim had been hit with a metal pipe filled with concrete.

While officers were attempting to locate the suspect and a witness, the suspect came through the front door of the building and assaulted the victim in front of an officer by punching the victim in the back of the head. The suspect was immediately arrested.

The suspect was identified as Richard Craig Schuyler. Two witnesses on scene also corroborated the assault claim.

Schuyler was transported to CPD for processing. He had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond. Schuyler was charged with the following:

  • Assault first degree
  • Assault second degree
  • Reckless endangerment

Vehicle theft

On Jan. 17, at approximately 8:56 a.m., CPD officers responded to the 400 block of Glenburn Avenue for a vehicle theft. Contact was made with the victim who reported a 2017 Honda CR-V stolen.

While CPD was on scene investigating the incident, a deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene. DSO was also investigating a stolen vehicle incident that had occurred in the Jenkins Creek area.

It was determined that both stolen vehicles had been together at an establishment on Cedar Street. After further investigation, a suspect was identified through camera systems and the assistance of DSO school resource officers.

CPD and DSO units responded to an address in the 1200 block of Chestnut Place where the stolen Honda was located. While officers were preparing to tow the vehicle, the juvenile suspect was located in the area and arrested.

The juvenile is a 17-year-old male juvenile of Cambridge. The juvenile was transported to CPD for processing. The juvenile has been charged with the following:

  • Theft $25,000 to under $100,000
  • Motor vehicle unlawful taking
  • Rogue and vagabond
  • Theft $1,500 to under $25,000
  • Theft less than $100

CPD contacted the Department of Juvenile Services in reference to detention placement for the juvenile. DJS did not authorize detention of the juvenile and advised to release them to their guardian. The juvenile was later released to their guardian.

Assault

On Jan. 18, at approximately 6:42 a.m., CPD officers responded to the 700 block of Foxtail Drive for a disturbance. Contact was made with the complainant, who claimed he or she had been assaulted, strangled and prevented from leaving by a male subject inside of the residence. The male subject was identified as a 38-year-old Hurlock man.

Officers located the man inside the home, where he was detained. After further investigation of the alleged assault, the suspect was arrested and transported to CPD for processing.

He had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond. Derone Lamar Little was charged with the following:

  • Assault first degree
  • Assault second degree
  • Reckless endangerment
  • False imprisonment

Warrant service

On Jan. 18, at approximately 6:42 a.m., CPD officers had responded to the 700 block of Foxtail Drive for a disturbance. During the incident, officers contacted a 38-year-old Hurlock man, who had an active Talbot County bench warrant for failure to appear in court from 2022 on an original charge of traffic violations.

Derone Lamar Little was arrested and transported to CPD for processing. Little had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.
