EASTON – Two Dorchester County residents have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Easton.

On Saturday, at approximately 1:52 a.m., officers from the Easton Police Department were dispatched to Sidetracked Saloon at 10 North East Ave., in reference to shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd in the parking lot, and a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police began lifesaving efforts until Talbot County Paramedics arrived, who transported the victim to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. The victim, Antonio L. Smith, 23, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Easton police established a suspect and disseminated a bulletin to law enforcement agencies. Detectives also contacted the Cambridge Police Department, asking officers to check a location for a vehicle.

A statement from Easton police said later that day, Cambridge officers found the suspect vehicle, a white Ford Explorer, in the area of Race Street in Cambridge. They stopped the vehicle, and discovered that one suspect, a 32-year-old Hurlock woman, was driving. Another, a 34-year-old Cambridge man, was the front passenger.

Easton police said the man and Smith had an altercation at the saloon. Afterwards, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and fired a round, striking Smith. The woman then drove the suspect away in the Ford.

Kevron L. Chase was charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm in the use of felony, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.

Chadnee G. Harris was charged with accessory after the fact to first- and second-degree murder and accessory after the fact to a felony. They were both released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.
