Dorchester Dog Show attracts canine talent

CAMBRIDGE – Christ Episcopal Church thanked the community, sponsors, participants, dogs and volunteers for making this year’s Fun Dog Show a success.

Parade Grand Marshal was George Wham and his pup, Oscar, a wire-haired terrier. Best in show was Jax, escorted by Anna Catherine.

This was the second year the event was held at the American Legion on Sunburst Highway. The rainy day provided the perfect venue for puppies and people to enjoy the day indoors. Chili, hot dogs and baked goods were available, as well as many raffle gifts and prizes.

Highlights of the day included Master of Ceremonies Addie Eckardt, who did the honors of announcing the participants and supplying running commentary that entertained the crowd all afternoon.

“We had a ringmaster this year, Jane Flowers, who kept things running smoothly, and DJ James Thompson kept the music going in the background,” a statement from the church said. “We couldn’t have run so smoothly without the help of pet handlers and ringmaster assistants. Pets on Wheels and Baywater Animal Rescue, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from the dog show, were on hand to educate about rescue dogs.”

Mystery dog, Pinky, with Cheryl Phillips, also created an atmosphere of smiles and fun. Photographer Janice Orlik, of JanniMak Photography, took photos of the event.
