CAMBRIDGE – Save the date! Sept. 24, it’s everybody’s favorite street festival – Showcase! The event takes place from noon until 5 p.m. along historic High Street in downtown Cambridge, all the way to the waterfront.

This art walk and street festival is DCA’s way of “Celebrating our Creative Community,” and is a family-friendly free arts event, held rain or shine. The generous support of the Nathan Foundation, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the staff and volunteers of DCA have helped present this event for over 40 years.

There will be several stages offering entertainment during the event. As of press date, performers include Reagan Kent, solo country; Ellie Rose Guzman, solo singer/songwriter; Paul Harrison and Kevin Diaz, duo classic rock/folk; Bay Country Chorus, barbershop; Midshore Community Band; Mike Elzey and Students; and the Cambridge Ukulele Club.

This juried event displays paintings, photography, ceramics, drawing/pastel, fiber/textiles, glass, jewelry, leather, wood, metal, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture and found object; even heritage arts such as blacksmithing. Artists and artisans travel from all over Delmarva, with dozens returning to the event year after year, to fill this beautiful waterfront venue with creative and unique artwork for show and sale.

Vendors will be serving Eastern Shore cuisine while local restaurants will be open for business. Visitors will also find an array of booths featuring area nonprofits on hand to share their mission and stories with event visitors. Food, artisan and nonprofit groups interested in participating in Showcase may register online at dorchesterarts.org, call 410-228-7782 or stop by 321 High St. to pick up a form. For questions or more details, email event coordinator Melissa Cooperman at mcooperman@dorchesterarts.org.

For information on additional programs and events at DCA, or current grant opportunities, visit dorchesterarts.org or stop by 321 High St. As the designated County Arts Council for Dorchester County, DCA is committed to increasing access to the arts for all members of the community by supporting extensive outreach and educational opportunities in the arts.

DCA is currently open Tuesday and Thursday noon-8 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Second Saturdays until 8 p.m.
