Dorchester Career and Technology Center welders visit M and M Carnot Refrigeration

Posted

FEDERALSBURG - Dorchester Career and Technology Center’s student chapter of the American Welding Society, led by teacher Chris Baker, recently visited M and M Carnot Refrigeration in Federalsburg to get a first-hand look at what is expected in the field as a welder.

Students toured the facility, learning about commercial/industrial refrigeration, as well as opportunities in the company. They met with company owners, managers, inspectors and welders, as well as three of the four former DCTC welding students now employed there: Austin Kimmey (Class of 2021); Payton Thomas (Class of 2018); Gavin Mowery (Class of 2016); and Shane Hallbrook (Class of 2015).

M and M Carnot is an international company with a customer base of household names, including well-known meat distributors and LEGO Corporation, a statement from the school said.

Mr. Baker expressed his appreciation for the company’s support of the students, saying, “It makes it much easier to learn when you see why you are learning.”
