Dorchester American Legion Post 91 donates $8500 to Cambridge Police Department

Posted

CAMBRIDGE - As part of its ongoing support of area community-based organizations, Dorchester American Legion Post 91 recently presented a check for $8500 to the Cambridge Police Department.

Chief Justin Todd and Captains Hinson and Patton joined Post 91 Commander Stan Werner, Commander-Elect former state senator Richard Colburn, and other Post 91 members for a July 9 presentation at Legion headquarters at 98 Sunburst Highway in Cambridge.

The monetary award was one of many checks donated to sixty-seven community-based organizations totaling $120,620.00, Colburn said.

Each year, Post 91 officials ask the Cambridge Police Department to submit a request for funds it may require in addition to those covered by the City’s budget.

This year’s contribution will assist the department with the cost of uniforms and other equipment, Chief Justin Todd said.

In thanking Post 91, Todd expressed gratitude to members for their generosity and support.

“We are blessed to have the support of the American Legion and all our valued partnerships throughout the city,” Todd said.

Post 91 is also glad to be able to contribute funds to each Dorchester County volunteer fire company, Colbourn said.
