DelDOT: Woodland Ferry to remain closed through Sept. 16

Posted

SEAFORD – Motorists and pedestrians who utilize the Woodland Ferry will have a longer wait than initially expected before the Tina Fallon vessel reopens for service.

The Delaware Department of Transportation announced Tuesday the Woodland Ferry will remain closed through Sept. 16.

The delay in reopening is due to a longer than expected lead time for engine parts, necessary for the rebuild of the engine, according to DelDOT.

In May, DelDOT announced the ferry would be closed starting May 10 for the U.S. Coast Guard’s 5-year mandatory maintenance inspection.

The ferry transports vehicles and foot passengers between Seaford and Laurel, as well as traffic from nearby Bethel, Blades and Galesville, Maryland, across the Nanticoke River.
