Delaware State Police searching for Bridgeville murder suspect

BRIDGEVILLE — Delaware State Police is asking for the public’s help in locating Alan Alcantara, a 27-year-old Bridgeville resident who is wanted for murder.

State police said at approximately 11:14 p.m. Friday night, the Bridgeville Police Department was dispatched to 309 Cedar Street for a missing person complaint, resulting in an ensuing investigation.

Bridgeville police found that a 52-year-old male resident of the home could not be located and discovered signs of a violent confrontation in the home. The reporting person also told police they identified Mr. Alcantara flee the scene in a 2006 blue Honda civic, according to Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell.

Delaware State Police’s Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and is continuing their search to locate the missing person. Through crime scene examination, state police said investigators identified Mr. Alcantara as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for first degree murder.

There are no additional details at this time, Cpl. Hatchell said.
