Delaware Soil Health Partnership to hold soil workshop in Bridgeville

GEORGETOWN — The Delaware Soil Health Partnership will hold a soil health workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at the Bridgeville Fire Hall.

Annie Dee, NACD soil health champion and president of Dee River Ranch in Pickens Co., Ala., grows corn, wheat and soybeans on 10,000 acres, will discuss how using regenerative and precision practices improves soil health and operational efficiency. 

Phil King, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service soil scientist, will discuss the importance of soil organic matter.

Jayme Arthurs, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service state resource conservationist, will cover soil health evaluations. Sussex Conservation District staff will discuss in-field findings and their relationship to soil health evaluations.

Preregistration is required. The event is free and lunch will be provided with ice cream from the Vanderwende Farm Creamery truck.

Producers are encouraged to bring a friend, who has not attended a Delaware Soil Health Partnership event in the past three years, both parties will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Blackstone griddle. Nutrient management credits are pending.
