DOVER — The Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement will hold a rally at Legislative Hall on May 22 to urge lawmakers to enact legislation to assist their efforts.

The alliance, which represents more than 550 nonprofit organizations in the state, had originally scheduled their rally for Wednesday, but that was changed due to expected rain in the forecast.

With its new date set, the event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. and feature remarks from Speaker of the House Valerie Longhurst, D-Bear; Senate Majority Whip Elizabeth “Tizzy” Lockman, D-Wilmington; and Delaware nonprofit leaders.

The Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement’s goal is to improve the relationship between such organizations in the state.

The group is planning to advocate for equitable contract rates and process issues through legislative initiatives, such as including a standard cost escalator in contracts; matching statewide rates with federal amounts to cover overhead costs; hold state agencies accountable for delinquent payment penalties and to ensure timely execution of contracts.
