DOVER — Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long signed a proclamation Wednesday recognizing the month of May as Nurses Month in the First State.
Lt. Gov. Hall-Long, Delaware’s first nurse turned lieutenant governor, thanked nurses for their contributions, including their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She was joined by House Majority Whip Melissa Minor-Brown, D-New Castle; Department of Human Resources Secretary Claire DeMatteis; the department’s Nurse Recruiting Manager Germaine Harris and several nurses and advocates from throughout the state.
“Nurses play a vital role in a patients’ healthcare journey and it is important that we recognize and honor their bravery, passion, and dedication while serving on the front lines,” said Rep. Minor-Brown, who is also a nurse.
Prior to Wednesday afternoon’s proclamation signing, the House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 46, which also designated May as National Nurses Month in Delaware.
