DOVER — The Delaware State Housing Authority’s three temporary programs to address homeownership barriers for impacted populations are beginning to issue their final funds, the agency announced Monday.
The Delaware Mortgage Relief Program, Delaware Diamonds Home Loans and the Home Sweet Home Program are nearing the end of their allocated funding, so residents are encouraged to apply now or explore alternative assistance.
The relief program provides up to $50,000 for housing-related delinquencies, such as mortgages, property taxes, homeowners association fees or homeowners insurance payments, and up to $20,000 for repairs, including mold and mildew remediation; lead-based paint removal; roof replacements; heating, cooling, electrical and plumbing repairs; and the repair, replacement or installation of accessibility aids.
It is expected to exhaust its funds by early 2024. Homeowners should apply for assistance as quickly as possible at demortgagehelp.com.
The Delaware Diamonds Home Loan and Home Sweet Home programs have also exhausted their available funding. Both offered potential homebuyers a zero-interest, forgivable second loan of $12,000-$15,000 and were funded by a $5 million allocation from Gov. John Carney.
