I began sending Opinions to this newspaper in October 2016. Over the past 10 years, I have forwarded dozens discussing the demise of our democracy, starting with the eight years of Barack Obama. Make no mistake: He was a socialist who detested the capitalistic approach to our democracy and preached socialism through the lens of “it’s good for all.” President Donald Trump tried to right the ship in his first term, but the Democrats subjected him to two impeachment trials that were jokes from Day 1. In 2020, we made a holocaustic mistake and had to live with the horrific four years of Joe Biden, fully backed, supported and loved by Delaware’s three congressional representatives, especially Democratic Sen. Chris Coons.
America smartened up in 2024, voting President Trump into his second term. However, the “never say die” Democrats have once again allowed their “Trump Derangement Syndrome” to move so far left that Bernie Sanders is now the kingpin of Democratic hopefuls. Unfortunately, they only profess socialism and communism as their platform. You never hear their solutions to our nation’s problems, only that it’s Trump’s fault. Sadly, our national print and news media, teachers unions and, yes, our three current congressional representatives support the Democrats’ hatred for our democracy and its capitalistic way.
How did we get to this point in our 250th year of being? While I suspect there is no easy answer, it started with the left’s takeover of our educational system at both the secondary and college levels. The demise of those two institutions can easily be seen by those of us who were truly educated, in institutional systems that were dedicated to education, not indoctrination.
Our high schools are nothing more than breeding grounds for socialists and teachers unions to indoctrinate our children. Using the Democratic policy of pushing gender dysphoria, specific personal pronouns and the idea that boys can participate in girls’ sports, they’ve stopped teaching reading, writing and arithmetic, replacing it with the basic ideals of socialism and communism.
Here in Delaware, the high school graduation rate is approximately 89%. That sounds very good, until you realize that the reading and math proficiency rate of students entering ninth grade is only 41% and 34%, respectively. How, then, do 89% graduate? It’s simple: Teach the garbage indoctrination discussed above and push everyone through. I am puzzled at how many good teachers (and I suspect there are a lot of them) put up with Delaware’s failing administration and Department of Education. The following article indicates that Delaware ranks 45th in educational outcomes: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/pmc11526698.
Where are our three congressional representatives, and why aren’t they fighting for a much-improved education system? Again, the answer is simple: They all support the Democratic policies outlined above.
Our nationwide colleges and universities further the indoctrination that students receive at the high school level. The far-left professors at many of our colleges and universities spout the socialistic and communist doctrines with language that destroys the idea of individual success, praising the ideals of improved conditions for the working man via the equal distribution of wealth for all. Their concept is that government will be successful in that distribution. The major failure of that philosophy is that government creates zero wealth and can only distribute what is produced by our capitalistic system. If you believe in the destruction of our capitalistic system, the funds to provide the money for government to distribute to all comes from where? Once again, why aren’t our three congressional representatives speaking against this absurd and total foolishness?
All three of our congressional representatives are devoted supporters of the far-left Democratic philosophy of socialism and communism spouted today. When have you ever heard any of them discuss policies against what is being preached by some of the crazy far-left Democrats running for or in office today? Remember, Sen. Coons was one of the most devoted supporters of President Biden, and we all know how terrible his presidency was.
We are preparing to celebrate our 250th year as a country. I hope that it is supported and enjoyed by all. However, I suspect that many Democrats will find reason to bash many of the celebrations planned by President Trump, for the simple reason that he planned them. TDS will rule the day, as none of the Democrats will have anything good to say about our 250th celebration. Once again, what will our three representatives say?
The midterm elections are only months away. I don’t remember the last time I saw or heard from Sen. Coons or Rep. Sarah McBride, D-Del., concerning their policy proposals to solve our nation’s problems. I suspect all we will hear from them is that Trump is bad and that voting for a Republican is a vote for the term “Make America Great Again,” a term they hate, just as they despise our democracy and the capitalistic way of life. If you don’t believe that last sentence, just check their individual congressional voting records over the last two years!
