Milford mayor announces bid to retain seat

Posted

MILFORD — Mayor Arthur Campbell has announced that he is seeking his fourth two-year term as the leader of the city.

Opposing him in the April 27 election is City Councilman Todd Culotta. The two also faced each other in the 2018 campaign for the mayor’s seat.

In that bid, Mr. Campbell won the position 537-334, and he’s been in office ever since.

As Milford continues to grow, one of Mayor Campbell’s main initiatives is developing places for recreational activities. He said he hopes to bring at least one more park to the area, with a variety of activities for children and adults.

“I want to make sure we have a park with a large playground, pickleball courts, tennis courts, maybe a pool and soccer fields,” he said. “That is one of the biggest things I want to get done in the next two years.”

He believes such a facility would be a boon for the city.

“This park is going to be essential,” Mayor Campbell said. “It is a place for people to go. Adults can sit on the bench and read a book. It’s going to be a great thing.”

Another reason for the park centers on children, the former teacher said, adding that he misses educating youth.

“I love the kids and anything I can do for the kids because there is nothing for them,” Mayor Campbell added.

Over his six years as mayor, he has enjoyed interacting with Milford citizens.

“I love being out in the street, talking to people and having a good time with the residents,” the mayor said, noting that he plans to participate in a mayoral candidates’ debate hosted by the Greater Milford Chamber of Commerce at 6 p.m. April 25 at Milford High School.

The election will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Public Works Facility at 180 Vickers Drive. Voters must be registered and reside in city limits.
