CRISFIELD — Crisfield police questioned two persons of interest to determine if they were involved with a reported burglary at Water’s Edge Café. Officers were contacted to go to the restaurant at 1104 W. Main Street at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 regarding the overnight occurrence.

The owners of the restaurant reported that someone gained access through a back screen door that was cut, entered the establishment and stole cash registers containing the next day’s start-up cash. There were other items stolen from the store as well.

The restaurant had no alarm system. “The suspects got exactly what they came for and made there exit again through the back door,” reported Chief Michael Tabor.

The Maryland State Police Crime Lab was contacted and fingerprints and DNA were recovered from locations in the building. Meanwhile the café owners have tightened security with the installation of a steel door and alarm system.

Police are asking for anyone who saw something suspicious from 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.1 through 7:30 a.m. the next morning to call Detective Ralph Oakes at 410-968-1323.
