LONDON (AP) — Cole Palmer has signed a contract extension at Chelsea, tying him to the Premier League club until 2034.
The deal extends his contract by another year, with Palmer having signed a two-year extension — until 2033 — in 2024.
“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” Palmer said in a Chelsea statement on Saturday. “Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence so it was only right to sign.
“Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too.”
The 24-year-old Palmer has had an impressive start to the season, with four goals in seven matches.
That earned Palmer a recall to the England squad after controversially being left out for the World Cup.
However, Palmer — who struggled with a persistent groin problem last season — withdrew from the squad for the Nations League matches, prompting England coach Thomas Tuchel to say that the Chelsea star “misses way too many camps with injuries.”
Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 and has made 91 goal contributions in 138 appearances so far, with Chelsea saying he “has established himself as one of the world’s finest attacking players.”
Palmer has helped Chelsea to the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League titles.
