Fifteen 7th and 8th grade honor society students from South Dorchester School’s Junior National Honor Society members recently completed the Character Counts Mid Shore’s training course and will be Character Coaches in the lower grades at their school.  Front row: Carrie Price, Sarah Brooks, Sara Mills, Katie Roberts, Devon Doll.

Middle row: Abby Robinson, Madison Abbott, Lauren Gootee, Kane Schwarz, Ashlyn Mann, Advisor Lollie Walters. Back row: Brooke Windsor, Cati Linthicum, Taylor Jones, Josh Blades, Sarah Lewis.

Under the supervision of their advisor the students will meet monthly to prepare for the weekly character education lessons based on the Six Pillars of Character – trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. “Younger students look up to the older students for guidance so this project is a win-win. It provides leadership skills for the coaches especially the 8th grade students that will be heading to high school next year,” states Susan Luby, CCMS executive director.
