Camden man charged after firearm discharge

DOVER — David Preston, 18, of Camden, was arrested following a shooting Monday at around 5:08 p.m., authorities said.

According to Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, police were initially called to the 900 block of Carvel Drive for a shots-fired report. Officers located a woman who said she had been shot at, and they determined Mr. Preston to be a suspect, he said.

Detectives obtained warrants but were unable to locate him.

On Tuesday, Mr. Preston turned himself in to police and was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and first-degree reckless endangering.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $32,000 secured bail.
