CAMBRIDGE — During the Christmas season most parents look forward to seeing their kids opening gifts and laughing and enjoying time spent with family, but not everyone is that fortunate. There are many families in Cambridge that don’t get to experience this joy and happiness. In the spirit of the season the Cambridge Police Department reached out to two families in need to hopefully brighten their Christmas.

On Dec. 22, officers of the Cambridge Police Department met with the Ross family at the Cambridge Walmart in an effort to help make their Christmas a little more enjoyable. The Ross family includes; Grandmother Vanessa Ross, mother Sherice Ross, daughter Joice-Ann Ross, 3 and son Isiah Ross, 9. The Cambridge Police Department made it possible for the Ross family to purchase items at Walmart to help supplement their Christmas. Sherice was indeed thankful for the assistance that CPD provided and was excited to be able to shop for extra clothing, food items and toys for the kids.

On Dec. 23, 2014 officers of the Cambridge Police Department met with the Diaz family at the Cambridge Walmart in an effort to help make their Christmas a little more enjoyable. The Diaz family includes; mother Erica Diaz, father Jose Huber and 2-year-old son Cristian Huber Diaz. The Diaz family recently experienced the tragedy of a house fire which left them without shelter, food and clothing. The family is receiving some assistance, but The Cambridge Police Department made it possible for the Diaz family to purchase items at Walmart to help supplement their Christmas. Erica was extremely grateful for the assistance CPD provided and was happy to be able to shop for clothing, household items and toys for her son Cristian.

“It is the mission at the Cambridge Police Department to assist the citizens of Cambridge whenever possible so that safety and quality of life can be enjoyed by all especially during the holiday season. We continue to build partnerships with citizens and community leaders of this city with the purpose of addressing crime, and fear of crime, and strengthening our community to have a better and safer Cambridge.”

The Cambridge Police Department hopes to expand this program in the future so that we may assist more families.
