Cambridge Farmers Market season underway at Long Wharf

Posted

CAMBRIDGE - A favorite local sign of Spring, the Cambridge Maryland Farmers at the Choptank, opened for the season on April 4 at its Long Wharf adjacent location.

The open-air market will again be featuring familiar favorites Thursdays 3-6 p.m. until Thanksgiving week.

Along with an array of local vendors of produce and handmade goods, some additional updates and offerings are in the works.

“We have started to develop a list of bands and other entertainment in hopes of featuring live music and entertainment each market Thursday,” said Drew Kinohi, of Kinohi Poultry.

Artists and entertainers interested in participating are encouraged to contact the Cambridge Farmers Market on the Choptank Facebook Page, Kinohi said.

“We are also reaching out to community organizations, inviting them to set up at the market, helping community members see the resources that are out there for them to utilize,” Kinohi said.

Kinohi and Ethan Cook of Round Stone Market are the Market’s new co-leaders, representing a new system of vendor management, assisted by nonprofit Cambridge Main Street.

“Together we have started to cultivate a market structure that not only supports the community but does this by highlighting local businesses and producers whose goods represent the true diversity the Eastern Shore has to offer,” Kinohi said.

The current ‘crop’ of vendors includes:

  • Agave juicing
  • Agreenerside
  • Becca’s Sweet Baking
  • Blades Orchard
  • Clare’s Nutty Concoction
  • Del Vecchio’s Bakery
  • Heritage Orchard
  • Kinohi Poultry
  • Lyon Rum
  • Our Greek Market
  • Pirates Cove Oysters
  • Round Stone Farm
  • T’s Divine Sweets
  • The Bay Gypsy
  • The Bay Mushroom
  • Winters Farm Floral

Kinohi and Cook plan on adding more vendors as the season progresses.

“This is a beautiful location for a market, with a scenic view of sailboats in the distance. Come down by the water get yourself some groceries for the week and a bite to eat. Bring a blanket, we have plenty of room to set up for a picnic. We look forward to seeing you there,” Kinohi said.
