CAMBRIDGE--An homage to the fishing, crabbing and oystering industries that put Cambridge on the map, Brandon Hesson’s Cambridge Main Street office endeavored to build a Christmas tree this year that would celebrate the lowest common denominator of the town’s maritime industries: the ubiquitous bushel basket. With baskets donated by Lindy’s Seafood and The J.M. Clayton Company, ornaments from Choptank Charlie’s, and various materials and assistance from Simmons Center Market and Hill-Kimmel Contracting, the tree became a reality this past weekend, even though the Cambridge Christmas parade was rained out. The tree can be seen glowing merrily in the evening at the corner of Gay and Race Streets, in the parking lot at Craig’s Drug Store. “We want to show that not only is Cambridge unique, but that uniqueness is something we should all be proud of,” says Mr. Hesson.
