We bought a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid to improve the environment. Now, we are being penalized for driving it, saving gas and reducing pollution.
Our Toyota uses regular unleaded gas only, and there is no charging of the batteries, which have 10-year lifespans. The registration is good until 2028, but now, the Division of Motor Vehicles wants more money from us! We are older adults on a fixed income, which was one of the reasons we bought the hybrid — to save money. But the government of Delaware wants what little we save by driving it.
They are going to force many older individuals to give up the one transportation they can depend on. Why should we pay extra registration fees at this time? The people who need to pay them are the owners of fully electric cars, who expect the state to provide charging stations!
