CRISFIELD — United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Crisfield, Md. will present, ABOUT BOATING SAFETY, on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm, at the Crisfield Coast Guard Station. This one-day beginner boating class will provide boaters the necessary information to operate a vessel safely on waterways and also make their boating experiences as enjoyable as possible. Upon completion of this program, a certificate and wallet card will be issue, which will satisfy the tri-state boater education requirements.
Topics include:
Introduction to Boating – Types of power boats; sail boats; outboards; paddle boats; houseboats; different uses of boats; various power boating engines; jet drives; family boating basics.
As a reminder, in Maryland, as of October 1, 2010, anyone under the age of 16, operating a motorized vessel 11 feet in length or greater WITHOUT a valid boating safety certificate, must be under the supervision of an individual 18 years of age or older who possesses a valid boating safety certificate or an individual born before July 1, 1972.
