Bayhealth performs heart screenings at Super Senator Day in Dover

Posted

DOVER — Bayhealth collaborated with the Capital School District to offer free electrocardiogram screenings for students 15 and older at Super Senator Day.

Bayhealth screened 76 students and performed nine EKGs, which are five-minute, noninvasive tests to detect underlying heart conditions that could result in sudden cardiac arrest.

Three students were identified as needing echocardiograms, which more closely examine heart function.

The screenings were free, thanks to donations made by the Dover Capital City Rotary Club, retired U.S. Air Force Col. George Chabbott and C.F. Schwartz Toyota, through the Bayhealth Foundation.
